Six of us set off from Kettlewell on Sunday 18th June to climb up Great Whernside. We were grateful for the cloud cover on another warm day, although it proved quite windy during our ascent. We stopped at the Hag Dyke youth hostel part way up for our coffee break. We enjoyed great views from the trig point and for our lunch on the ridge, across to the Three (Yorkshire) Peaks and the “other” Whernside. We repaired back to Kettlewell via Top Mere Road for some welcome refreshments in the pub just before the forecasted rain started.
