A Visit to Dent Heritge Centre

3rd August: We met for breakfast at The Bakewell Cafe in Askrigg at 10. The riders needed little encouragement to carb-load for the climbing to come, and the late lunch.

We departed at 10.30, heading west towards Garsdale and tackling the infamous Coal Road from the north. Some of us had a brief look at Dent Station on the way down.

We then meandered along beautiful valley roads in Dentdale. Lunch was at about 1.30 at Dent Village Heritage Centre and Museum, in the sun.

After lunch we headed east, climbing up towards Ribblehead under the viaduct, dropping back down into Wensleydale - avoiding Hawes with a last minute shortcut.

We arrived back at the start just before 5pm.

Distance: 50 miles
